Our First inductee: Lumm0x - Jeff Carter Super Collector
The Hockey Team is proud to announce the first inductee to its Super Collector Hall of Fame; Kelly Tackaberry aka Lumm0x.
Kelly is an avid collector of one of the top rookies of the 2005-2006 crop; Jeff Carter. Philadelphia’s 1st selection in the 2003 entry draft and 11th overall, the 24 year old centre has truly made his mark on the NHL since arriving. He currently leads the NHL with 30 goals and is also Philadelphia’s leading scorer ahead of Mike Richards.
To fully appreciate, Kelly’s collection, we must look at some numbers. Below is a report of the cards he owns.
91% of all cards owned
247 base set cards
1010 rookie year cards - only has 18 true RC's- have them all in numerous copies of each
318 autos
331 game used
768 parallels/inserts
35 1/1 cards
4 oddball cards
As a picture is worth a thousand words, please feast your eyes on these few pictures from his amazing personal collection…
These are only a few examples, but if you want to see everything he has, you can browse his bucket which is helpfully divided in the following categories:
- 04-05 Pre NHL cards: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v3...04-05%20Cards/
- 05-06 Rookie Year cards: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rds/?start=all
- 06-07 Sophomore cards: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rds/?start=all
- 07-08 3rd Season cards: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v3...rds/?start=all
We asked Kelly why he decided to collect Jeff Carter and this was his reply: “I first started collecting him after seeing him excel at the World Junior Championships and finding out he had been drafted by my favorite team; the Philadelphia Flyers. I thought his size, speed and offensive potential would ensure his success in the league. He has realized that potential this season leading the NHL in goals and his team in points”.
We also ask every applicant Super Collector to explain why they believe they deserve to be inducted in our Hall of Fame and this is what he had to say: “I think it speaks for itself [his collection]. It has quantity, quality and encompasses the high majority of everything released for him in the card hobby. My collection not only has the quality of cards such as all of the major 1/1's including everything from The Cup, Ultimate, etc., but it has every card and many quality cards in large volume. For example Carter has the SP Authentic FW auto/patch limited to 100 copies. I currently possess 16 copies of this rarely seen card. All his true rookies are found in volume, condition and with a nice assortment of autos and patches. I would be very surprised if anyone had a comparable collection in terms of value and numbers from such a highly sought after collecting year in the hockey hobby. Last checked, with over 200 cards priced N/A due to scarcity, my BV listed above $30000 on this collection alone.”
Please take a few minute to browse Kelly’s collection and to comment on his outstanding achievement. He truly is a Super Collector and I only wish I could get such a collection myself.
