A funny thing happened on the way to the...
Hey everyone (or anyone who may take the time to read this) this is my first Blog and Blog entry.
I started collecting cards like most of you when I was pre-teen, then stopped, then started then realized I was broke, had no gas, needed a burger for $1 from McDonalds....yet, here we are today. We are all members of a coll site to collect and trade sports cards.
Why? My wife asks, why I spend money on cardboard with pictures of Dudes...? Good question. Is it the straight up , I like my team, sport.. is it more? Is it the desire to complete something? I rarely work on a set anymore because the most of the sets are outside of my budget, which by the way is very VERY small. (Smaller that the second very in the last sentence.)
Is it, the issue of trying to retain my childhood or a piece of it? (Doubt it since I have sold off most of my child hood cards.)
So it must be the male competition gene...The same gene that makes some guys hall of famers and some guys bench warmers.
I collect football cards...Does each card bring me closer to the game? Closer to my favorite players? Team? It has to be, or is it I just want to have a better collection that little Billy from next door 35 years ago?
